Purposes and Aims of geography

What is Geography?

Geography is a science that deals with the study of earth and its features, phenomenon and inhabitants.

Due to its vast area of work, student generally fails to perform well in geography. Also, there are many concepts and formulas are involved in this subject, making it a bit complex to understand and grasp.

However, geography offers various opportunities for kids to learn:


  • examine a wide range of people, locations and environments at different scales around the world.

  • learn geographical patterns and processes and how political, economic, social and environmental factors affect contemporary geographical issues.

  • explore how places and environments are interdependent.

  • carry out geographical enquiry, including identifying environmental questions and developing their own opinions.

  • carry out geographical investigations inside and outside the classroom.
